PREPARATIONS FOR HOOKING UP A WASHER AND ELECTRIC DRYER
The first thing to do when preparing to hook up a new washer and dryer is make sure there is enough space where you plan on putting the washer by measuring the area. You don’t want to start hooking it up just to find out the machines don’t actually fit. Next, make sure the floor is stable and flat, crooked floors are not good for the units. Finally, turn off the power in the area you are hooking up the machines to avoid the risk of being shocked.
HOOKING UP YOUR WASHER
Before you start your washing machine hookup, grab a bucket or a tub and place it underneath the water outlets that you will be connecting to. Run water through the faucets to clear any debris that might clog your valves. After running the water, make sure the faucets are turned completely off.
Now the machine is ready to start being hooked up. Move the washer into place. Next, take the water supply hoses and attach them to the faucets. Then take the other ends of the hoses and attach them to the washer. Turn the water back on and check for any leaks. Fix any leaks before moving on to the next steps.
After the water is hooked up, it needs somewhere to go. Attach the drain hose to your washer and then run the hose to the drain receptacle. Plug the washer into an outlet and make sure it is in the position you would like.
HOOKING UP YOUR ELECTRIC DRYER
First, approach your dryer vent and clear it of all debris. The debris in the vent is a fire hazard and best if removed. Once the vent is clean, move the unit into place and connect the dryer hose to the dryer. Take the other end of the hose and connect it to the wall. Now plug the dryer into the outlet and move the machine into its final position.
LAST STEPS WHEN INSTALLING A WASHER AND ELECTRIC DRYER
After finishing your washer and dryer hookup, make sure your machines are level. You can adjust the feet at the bottom of the machine as needed to ensure that both the washer and dryer are level. Lastly, run the machines to confirm they are correctly hooked up.
COMMON MISTAKES OF HOOKING UP A WASHER/DRYER
Many common mistakes people have while setting up their machines come from not knowing how to hook up a washer and dryer. Many people do not clean the vents or drains beforehand, causing their machines to experience problems sooner than expected. People often do not level their washer and dryers, causing the machines to shake and rattle. Washers and dryers can already be quite loud, but when they are not leveled they are even louder. Lastly, make sure that the washer is draining properly. If not the walls around the machine may be damaged.
